Class Reflection
Building Rapport
As a millennial instructor, activities and games are often applied and favored in class, such as riddles, listening & drawing, and writing a letter to the future. One of my rules is to come to class at least 10 minutes early to prepare class and socialize with students. I can call out every one of my students' names beginning from the second class. Sharing Diversity With an international background, I sometimes compare the differences between the U.S. and Asian countries regarding certain topics, and they appreciate sharing diversity. It is an effective way to broaden the younger generation’s horizon, and to encourage them to respect others’ cultures. Keeping pace with Times I believe individuals must learn the skill to seek information. Therefore, I encourage behaviors like sharing information about campus activities in class. |
Putting Myself in Students' Shoes
I always use examples that happen in their life such as issues related to study, friends, relationships, and I motivate them to figure out several solutions in their own ways. Not only students are learning in this way, I also learn new things from them. I am not just an instructor, I am also a student. Making it Fun Being a technical wizard, I use technology to make the class fun and attractive. PowerPoint, visual pictures, fun videos, online discussion, and other multimedia are always applied in my class. As a result, none of my students have ever slept. For the Future I will keep my strength and get rid of my disadvantages based on the teaching evaluation. Moreover, the combination of my diverse teaching styles, professional research knowledge, and technology skills will continue to prepare me to become a professional educator. |
