Introduction to Social Media
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University
Instructor: Xi Lin
Multiple social media class sessions are offered in Fall/Winter/Spring terms. Enrollment limited to twenty-five students. Course description: Too old for social media? Don’t let anyone tell you that because it’s not possible! Survey after survey reflects more seniors participate in social media. They are jumping on board Facebook, Twitter, and more as they realize it is fun and provides real benefits. Therefore, this course will take you to explore different social media and how to use them. As a scholar, Xi Lin’s research focuses on adult learner’s motivations for using educational technology. Xi is a digital native and she will take you to explore the world of social media. In Class Activities:
During the class, I teach my senior learners how to play around with Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms. • I use Apply TV to show various versions (web browse, iPad, iPhone) of using those social media. • We have been practicing many functions through our own closed social groups. • Peer teaching and learning is also encouraged in class. |
