ADED 6445 Introduction to Adult and Community Education (Fall 2021)
Course Description:
As professional adult educators, it is important to understand the history, nature, and scope of adult education, both as a field of practice and a field of study. This course is designed to provide an overview of the historical and philosophical foundations of the field as well as an introduction to the nature and scope of the field of practice. This course will also address the social, political, technological, and economic factors that impacted the development of the field and continue to influence it today. Another major focus of the course includes an overview of the numerous and diverse providers of educational programs for adults and the various audiences they serve. Finally, the course will examine issues, trends, and controversies facing practitioners of adult education currently and in the future. Class Activities
Using technology has been a very important and enjoyable part of my teaching. As an instructor, I have involved various technology in my adult education graduate-level distance courses (e.g., Canvas Studio). Besides, I prepare my online class with a variety of activities, including case study, self-assessment, and peer review projects.
One of my teaching goals is to help students use technology tools. Therefore, students are required to learn how to use some types of technology such as Meme generator, Canvas Studio. Additionally, I provide them various resources regarding using different technology. By doing this, my students appreciate the provided resources and clear (video) guidance. I will continue providing supportive assistance to my students in future courses, and prepare them to be self-directed learners in today's high-tech world.
